Abstract:
Soil moisture is the most active part of the terrestrial water cycle, and it is a key variable that affects hydrological, bioecological, and bio-geochemical processes. Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometer (GNSS-R) technology is an effective means of soil moisture monitoring because it uses L-band electromagnetic waves and has high-frequency observation capabilities. The BeiDou satellite navigation system(BDS) is a global satellite navigation system independently developed by China. Soil moisture monitoring is also an important part of its business applications. The article summarizes and analyzes the current research on GNSS-R inversion of soil moisture from two aspects of observation platforms and inversion methods, and points out the advantages and disadvantages of different inversion methods, and further elucidating the main contributions and advantages of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System in GNSS-R soil moisture inversion research.
