Abstract: Affected by factors such as less effective rainfall, low water from rivers and insufficient water storage in the hydraulic engineering, regional droughts occurred successively in some areas of the Pearl River basin from winter 2021 to spring 2022, of which some areas remained dry for a long time, especially in Guangdong Province. This paper reviews the development process of the drought in the Pearl River basin, comprehensively analyzes the main countermeasures to deal with the drought, and puts forward targeted suggestions for the drought relief work according to the shortcomings exposed in the drought relief work, which can provide reference for the drought relief in the future.
